Sharon Osbourne is gushing over her late husband Ozzy Osbourne’s final show in his hometown.
In a resurfaced interview taken by Pollstar on July 17, the reality star shared his late husband’s surprising final words about his reaction to the huge success of Black Sabbath‘s final concert.
At one point of the epic concert in Birmingham on July 5, Ozzy told Sharon in disbelief that he had “no idea that so many people liked” him.
To Sharon, the last show of Ozzy at Villa Park was a “huge success.”
“It was the first time, I think, that anybody’s gone into retirement and done it, where the show is streamed and it goes to charity. So it’s the first time anybody has said goodnight like that, it’s the perfect way, when you’ve had such a long career, to end it,” she detailed.
Sharon shared that she herself never wanted Ozzy to end his musical career “without some big event.”
“And it’s the best way then to go home to where it all started, to go to his favorite stadium in the world, which is [home to] his beloved Aston Villa team, and it was just perfect. It was the perfect storm, put it that way,” the wife of the rock legend added.
For those unversed, the Prince of Darkness passed only 22 days after his last show as a member of Black Sabbath at the age of 76.
The legend’s family released a statement to announce his death on July 22, which read, “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.”
“He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time,” the statement continued.
Ozzy was laid to rest with a funeral in his hometown of Birmingham on July 30.
