5 easy hacks to make your hair colour last longer

This one’s hard to follow, but if you want your hair colour to last, avoid too many chemical processes close together. Bleaching, straightening, and colouring within short gaps can seriously weaken your hair shaft, causing the colour to wash out faster. Give your hair at least a 6–8 week break between any two chemical services.

If you absolutely need a touch-up or a blow-dry, visit your salon and ask for colour-refreshing toners or gloss treatments instead of a full dye job. They’re gentler and help revive your colour without damage.

Some extra tips

Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools too often; chlorine can strip colour and leave your hair looking greenish (especially if it’s light-toned).

Use a microfibre towel or cotton T-shirt to dry your hair, regular towels cause friction that dulls your shine.

Sleep on a silk pillowcase to reduce frizz and preserve your hair’s smoothness and colour.
